I love wearing loafers and have done so for many years. They are the most comfortable professional looking and style of footwear for work. I would estimate that I’ve got about 10 different pairs in my collection. Although, I know that sneakers are sometimes an option to be paired with suits – that’s really not my style. Here are my top picks as we head back into the office or back to school.
Part one of this blog post listed out comfort, price point, ease of wear, wear with socks or no socks and embellishments as reasons why I choose to wear loafers. For further details about that post, please click here.
This will blog post is heavy with pictures because I want to be able to share all these fabulous loafers from every possible angle. It will make it so much easier for you to decide which pair you’re going to want to run out and purchase.
Reason #6 – Timeless Style
Loafers need not be boring and are in fact quite timeless in terms of style. I own a pair that has a classic feminine bow adorning the top called Tulip by Brown’s Couture line here in Canada. The heel height is 20mm with an almond shaped toe. These I would say are my more “formal looking” pair. They’re great with suits, a pair of jeans. They are also made in Italy.

Reason #7 – Informal to Business Look
If you get a structured shoe, it’s a style that would suit any business environment. However, you’ll need to consider your work environment. Bold colours and prints might not be the best idea if you work in a rather conservative work environment. However, I guarantee you will stand out in a crowd if you decide to go a bit on the wild side!

Reason #8 – Hardwearing
Loafers can be made of many different materials. In general, leather loafers would be more sturdier and hardwearing. You can wear them with a full suit or tailored outfit. Suede are best for summer and spring depending on the colour. However, never let your suede loafers get wet.

Reason #9 – Never Goes Out of Style
Many styles of shoes come and go, but loafers are a staple in any shoe closet. Two names synonymous with loafers are Gucci Horsebit loafers and the Penny Loafers. Both have been around since the 1930’s.
The reference of Penny Loafers has been around for decades. In the 1930’s, a penny could be kept in each shoe. This was enough to make an emergency phone call back in the day. For penny loafers, have a decorative strap at the top of the shoes, with a decorative shape cut out and this was where the penny were housed.

Reason #10 – Essential Footwear
I hope that after reading this blog post and the other previous post on loafers, you can also come to the same conclusion – you need to get a pair of loafers because they are essential!!
